Rackham - 27 June 2015

Great event always seems nearer then it is. Just Penny and Bea on the Saturday. I was hoping Bea wasn't going to be as clumsy with the hot weather we had. We did improve our dressage with 30.8 just feels a little tight at times and needs to relax. I would say show jumping is her stronger point, but we had two down, Brian Lear built a very good course which coursed a few problems and plus I didn't have many brakes, I think a bit change is in order!!!  Cross country we had a hairy moment at the sunken road, we had to jump down and out over a skinny - it wasn't quite straight forward as that. We jumped to the left out to the right and crikey we’ve got to turn left to the skinny! We got around inside the time just missing out on placings.

Penny had a 30.8 showing I was very consistent in the dressage! We went ahead and jumped our best double clear coming 6th.

Next stop will be Brightling only 15 minutes down the road - yay!!!! I will have three horses in the BE100 Ollie, Bea and Mouse. I’ve been asked to be the Guinea Pig for the CIC*  dressage test. Will have to take one of the dressage divas but not sure who Madam or Poppy???!

Rackham - 23 June 2012

With Berkshire College (BCA) cancelled the next event we went to was Rackham.  I was fortunate that both Ollie and Tango were on on the Saturday as by Sunday the event was abandoned.

Tango was in the BE90 class he was lovely and relaxed in the dressage and scored 27 which I was really pleased with.  He had 2 down in the SJ (8 faults) but the course was tight and twisty.  He's in his new bit now and I felt like I had more control though.  He went clear SJ and ended up on 35 penalties which took him just out of the placings in 11th place.  After Rackham he seems to have had a bit of a cold so was obviously slightly under the weather although I didn't know this at the time so he was a very good boy for getting us round without complaining.  He's had some time off since and seems to be much better.

Ollie was an absolute star!  He was doing his first BE100+ so does a Novice dressage test and SJ and the BE100 XC.  He had the best dressage in his section by a number of points on 25.5 went clear SJ and XC and no time penalties so won his section on 25.5!  I'm really excited about Ollie and he will be doing his first Novice at Brightling in a few weeks. It will just be how things go in the XC as dressage and SJ are fine but he has less experience XC although feels like he's ready to progress and Brightling is a good first Novice course for him.

June Update

I've been really busy recently with lots of exciting stuff and must remember to keep my blog up to date!!!

It was Rackham last weekend where Corby was 2nd in his BE100 section. I was also riding Cinderbanks a new ride I have this year, we had a few faults in the SJ and one stop XC but hopefully will improve on this throughout the season.

We've also had more lorry issues which will hopefully now be resolved with two new batteries which will be fitted shortly!

On Tuesday this week I went to my new sponsor Dragonfly Saddlery. I picked up some great bits including schooling and XC boots and some reins. I tested out the boots XC on Wednesday when I took Tango to Lodge Farm to have a run round before his first BE event at Eridge on Saturday. I also took Percy round for Anna, I've been staying with me for schooling whilst Anna has had a break to have her baby. Tango went really well and was nice and calm. Percy was a little strong and excited but did really well as he hasn't really done much but really does enjoy jumping!

The lovely embroided saddlecloths and rugs have arrived from Dragonfly and some photos are below.
